When we were talking about moving down here, one of my mother's suggestions was to re-invent ourselves, which I thought was awesome! For so many years I've hated myself for being lazy and shy and overly cautious, some of which I can't really help-being an introvert and all, but some things can be changed. So, lately I've been trying to work on little bits of my personality that I hate, and trying to change them. Of course, I'll never be the spastic extrovert that my mum is, but hopefully I'll actually get to the point of functioning correctly in the world.
One of the things I've been trying to do is not freak out about things and just do them! It's a little difficult to do, since messing something up usually means losing money or time, but if it isn't something major or really costly, I've been trying to just say "oh well, I'll just have to try that again until it works". This is something that is just...really wonderful to do. It isn't total defeat if you step back, re-evaluate and try again. Another thing is the just doing things part. Due to my extremely low self esteem, whenever there is something that I'm interested in (a class or contest or audition) I generally didn't go after it because I thought I might fail. But now, even if I do fail, I can just say "oh well, there are plenty more opportunities".
Of course, one of the downsides to all of this change is my talking about it so much, which is making me feel self centred and weird.
lady, it's a little freaky how our lives run in parallel grooves.
ReplyDeleteto put it briefly: You are a genius, my friend, an utter genius! People need to be reminded of self sense and living and such, every day! Very inspiring and wonderful thoughts.
i try to think of that 10 quote: "some people live more in 20 years than others do in 80." of course he's just like, "heheh, DOOONE!"
but who doesn't want to live awesomely? Anyway. Great post, keep it up!
Ooh! And how is that, with the running in parallel? :)
DeleteAw! And you are a genius, my dear Holmes. XD You really are, and very inspiring to boot.
That's a wonderful quote, and a great one to live by. Yeah, Jerk Lord.
Yes, well...Y'only got one life in that body and with those goals. So...might as well do 'em!
i had lots of other things to say but computers despise me. Just the twin nosebleeds, and now having arrived simultaneously at this whole "self improvement" thing! i've been really disliking myself the past year or so, and i was thinking of mending my ways and apologising profusely to those around me XD
ReplyDeleteGrr! *shakes fist*
DeleteWow! That's good! It's really nice, kinda like spring cleaning or something.
It seems that a lot of people are doing that this year, which is kinda odd. (ood) Like...yeah. People are changing. If you watch some of Charlie McDonnell's new videos, he's doing it as well.
Woah! Maybe....maybe we're part of some huge mass movement and the Doctor's going to come and.....yeah, extraordinary events, you know. he's always there.
ReplyDeleteYES! *perks ears for vwrp vwrp sound*
