As anyone who has been on my Tumblr/Deviantart/or knows me at all probably knows about my "fangirling" tendencies.
First off, I'd like to say that it makes me terribly sad that the word "fangirl" is linked with being some ditzy, airheaded, overly shrieky pre-teen girl who stalks their favorite actor, or at least that there is no alternative to the word that doesn't make the female part of a fandom seem like total nutters.
Now onto the main subject:
I'd like to explain my reason for "fangirling" over the people that I admire, since a lot of people don't seem to get it and they just think that the reason that I (and the rest of the females that are fans) who watch things are doing it for a stupid reason.
The reason that I admire these people (Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, Misha Collins, Charlie McDonnell, Alex Day, etc) is not because they are attractive (which they are, but that's not even part of it), it's because they accomplish SO much and they are so talented....and they also seem like really great people. And...Just seeing that ordinary people can hone their talents or find new talents or do amazing projects or help people in need or travel the world and have friends everywhere or collaborate with people is just...So bloody brilliant and inspiring!
And mind you, most of my favorite actors are old men, like Ian McKellen and Christopher Lee, who have done so much in their lives and are just...amazing! <3
point well made!
